STOPPLE® Fittings are full-branch split tees designed for use with TDW plugging machines. The design has undergone extensive strain-gauge and pulsation testing. The average cyclic lives of the fittings are 30% greater than other designs tested.
What is a Stopple fitting used for?
A procedure used in the repair of a pipeline to isolate a section of line in the absence of a shutoff valve.
How do you Stopple?
Retract STOPPLE Plugging Head.
When pressure is equalized, leave 2-in. valve on plugging machine and 2-in. connection on line open.
Raise STOPPLE Plugging Head.
Close Sandwich Valve.
Close 2-in. Valve on line, but leave 2-in. valve on STOPPLE Housing open.
Open bleeder valve to relieve trapped pressure.
What is a hot tap and Stopple?
Line Stops, sometimes called Stopples (Stopple® is a trademark of TD Williamson Company) start with a hot tap, but are intended to stop the flow in the pipe. Line Stops are of necessity, somewhat more complicated than normal hot taps, but they start out in much the same way.
What is a Stopple bypass?
stopple and bypass pit means an excavation around the existing gas pipeline for the purposes of fitting a series of stopple tees to allow the tie-in of Work No. 1 to the existing gas pipeline, and a temporary bypass to maintain the supply of gas during tie-in works; Sample 1.

What is split tee in piping?
A full encirclement split tee is used when hot tapping into a pipeline. It is a pipeline fitting designed such that the inner diameter of the fitting is the same size as the outside diameter of the pipe that will be hot tapped.
How does Stopple work?
After welding a flanged saddle to the pipe, the line is hot tappeda method of making a connection to existing piping or pressure vessels without the interruption of emptying that section of pipe or vesseland an expanding resilient plug is inserted into the pipe bore.
How does hot tap work?
Boiling water taps work with the help of an electric-powered hot water tank. These tanks plug directly into a power socket and are connected to your water supply. They heat the water and store it in the tank – when you turn your tap on to use the boiling water, it can then be delivered instantaneously.
What is a Stopple plug?
TDW STOPPLE® Plugging Machines serve as temporary block valves installed anywhere in a piping system. They are used to isolate a section of line for repairs or additions without interruption of service.
What does a Stopple do?
A procedure used in the repair of a pipeline to isolate a section of line in the absence of a shutoff valve. When the repair is completed, the plug is withdrawn and a valve, installed on the saddle flange, is closed. …
What is hot tapping and plugging?
Hot tapping and plugging (HT&P) creates safe work zones during pipeline maintenance and pipeline repair, without the time, risk or expense of shutting down the pipeline system. There’s no decommissioning, depressurization or significant impact on product flow.
What is the purpose of hot tapping?
Hot tapping, or pressure tapping, is the method of making a connection to existing piping or pressure vessels without the interrupting or emptying of that section of pipe or vessel. This means that a pipe or tank can continue to be in operation whilst maintenance or modifications are being done to it.
What is a Stopple procedure?
A procedure used in the repair of a pipeline to isolate a section of line in the absence of a shutoff valve. … When the repair is completed, the plug is withdrawn and a valve, installed on the saddle flange, is closed.
What is a Stopple pit?
stopple and bypass pit means an excavation around the existing gas pipeline for the purposes of fitting a series of stopple tees to allow the tie-in of Work No. 1 to the existing gas pipeline, and a temporary bypass to maintain the supply of gas during tie-in works; Sample 1. Sample 2. Sample 3.
What is a pipe tee used for?
A tee, the most common pipe fitting, is used to combine or divide fluid flow. Tees can connect pipes of different diameters or change the direction of a pipe run, or both. Available in a variety of materials, sizes and finishes, they may also be used to transport two-fluid mixtures.
How do you read a pipe tee?
The proper way to read a copper tee is Side x Side x Center (Top). For example, a 3/4″ x 1/2″ x 1″ copper tee fitting is the same as 1/2″ x 3/4″ x 1″.
